The book tells about the life fate of Danata Henrikhauyna Murzyonak (née Mazheika), who for more than forty years worked as a primary school teacher in the schools of the Pastau region in Belarus and in the Belarusian Saturday class in Ottawa, the capital of Canada. During her lifetime, she taught about 600 Belarusian children to write and read beautifully, dance and sing. The book talks not only about the school, but also about the teacher’s childhood, the difficult post-war years and studies at a teacher training school, as well as about the life of village teachers, including life and work in the village of Dvarchany, where she and her husband lived together for forty-five years, and will come to Canada to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary. There is also a story about how she manages herself in her old age, left without a husband in a distant country. The book contains pictures from family archives.
