KING – SCEPAAN TWARDACH

The novel begins in Warsaw in 1937, two years before the start of World War II. Totalitarian tendencies are already visible in Poland, there is a fierce opposition of various political, social and national groups. This novel is about love and violence against the backdrop of a premonition of war. Szczepan Twardach is one of the leaders of the modern literary scene in Poland. Each book published by him became an event in writing and was necessarily a bestseller. The author of such well-known, scandalous and famous novels as “Morphi” (2012), “Drach” (2014). “King” (2016), “Kingdom” (2018), “Humility” (2020), “Cold” (2022). He also writes short stories, diaries and dramatic works. Awarded various prestigious literary prizes, among them “Passport of the magazine “Politics”, Brücke Berlin-Preis, Koscielsky Award. Collected a record number of nominations at literary events in Poland. Based on the novel “The King”, a series of the same name was filmed in Poland, which received excellent reviews from critics and became one of the most successful television projects. Lives in the village of Pilhawicz in Upper Silesia.
