The Black Castle of Olshansky

“Black Castle of Alshansky” is a classic Belarusian detective story. In it, as in other works of Karatkevich, the mystical connection of time is revealed. It is not for nothing that the main character of this novel, significant for Belarusian culture, Anton Kosmich, says: “Whoever does not remember the past, who forgets the past – is condemned to relive it again. Countless times.” For Kosmich, the search for the treasures of the Olshansky family turns not only into an interesting adventure, but also into a struggle for the establishment of truth and justice, in which he is helped by various characters: an employee of the state security agencies, a holy father, a guard of a castle and a church, the head of an archaeological expedition. This is one of the most famous works of Uladzimir Karatkevich.
